How long will the savings last?

When care suddenly costs thousands a month, the first question is usually "how long can we afford this?" This gives you a plain estimate — and unlike the forms on commercial sites, it asks for no name, no email, and sends nothing anywhere. The math happens on your device and disappears when you close the page.

Where the default numbers come from: the national median monthly cost of an assisted living community is $6,200, and a semi-private nursing-home room is about $9,581, per the CareScout (Genworth) 2025 Cost of Care Survey, gathered July–November 2025. In Georgia, assisted living tends to run lower — around $4,300 a month. Costs vary widely by facility and area, so replace the defaults with real quotes whenever you have them. The recent yearly increase for assisted living was about 5%.

This is an educational estimate, not financial or legal advice, and not a prediction. It doesn't account for taxes, investment growth, selling a home, a spouse's separate expenses, or benefits like Medicaid or VA Aid & Attendance — any of which can change the picture a lot. For a real plan, talk with a qualified elder-law attorney or financial advisor.
